LIVE
RITUAL BASS
A live electronic set rooted in the origins of ritual, layering a variety of sound sources (live, recorded, acoustic, electronic) and exploring the depths of bass sound as a full-body feeling. Inspired by bass music, techno, trap, dub, and minimalism.
MUSIC releases
This EP is our take on the stories we tell - where we come from and who we are. We call our style ritual bass, an invitation to open to the experience of the present through sound. Listening, breathing, dancing - these are the rhythms, loops, and cycles that make us part of everything.
When we experience life in this way, we are at home.
Welcome.
Where does music cease to be music and become the experience of sound?
The original 'Little Fluffy Clouds' was a genre-defining track for ambient electronica in the 1990s. Thirty years later, we thought we can update it for an exercise in listening. So instead of sampling Steve Reich's music (as in the original) we decided to use his phase-looping approach and added some of the 808 sub-bass that moves us so deeply.
What were the skies like when you were young?
The direct physical transmission of bass frequencies into the body changes the way one hears music - it cannot be paralleled by any subwoofer. Using it together with headphones, which provide the unique advantage of stereo separation (for things like binaural beats or ASMR triggers), turns listening into an intimate, immersive, and physically enhanced experience.
MEDITATIONS
Livestreamed on Twitter Spaces' Wellness Series for Maloka x TIMEPieces on October 14, 2022. We are reposting our recording here in its full binaural version (headphones are highly recommended). The recording does not include our vocal guidance, so we invite you to simply practice coming back to the sounds whenever your mind wanders.
The sound is what is present.
The sound is what is now.
